Lordship Lane

This innovative, high-quality building was handed over early to Haringey TPCT in March 2007. David Lammy MP for Tottenham and Wood Green formerly opened the centre on 21 July 2007.

Located on a backlands site in Tottenham, Lordship Lane Primary Care Resource Centre consolidates a 7 doctor GP practice with Primary Care services including Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Orthotics, Speech and Language Therapy, Phlebotomy, Dietetics, a Dental Practice and a Baby Clinic.

The philosophy of the design is to integrate the healthcare services effectively, to bring natural light into the building and to use natural materials. The influence of natural light in buildings is known to increase a sense of well-being.

The double height entrance, waiting and reception areas are designed to be inviting and comfortable spaces. The recepton area has views of a courtyard accessible to the public, the bridge on the first floor and the activities of the floor above.

This space, at the heart of the building generates a dynamic and welcoming environment. The circulation in the building, wherever possible, provides views to the outside or to the reference points of the reception atrium or the courtyard to assist with orientation and movement around the building.

Circulation in the building is also designed so that staff can observe it in an unobtrusive way. The lifts are located centrally and are visible from a number of directions.

The double height glazed entrance, waiting and reception areas have views of a courtyard, views of the circulation bridge on the first floor and the activities of the floor above making a dynamic and animated central focus for the building whilst assisting with orientation around it.

The façade includes the use of resin impregnated timber panels combined with blue brick. The interior also features timber, making use of timber acoustic panels and glulam beams.
